A member of Senegal's first hip-hop group, Positive Black Soul, Carlou D turned to a more traditional sound for his 2010 breakthrough album, Muzikr (World Village). For his new album, A New Day, available March 10, Carlou D has gathered a talented team around him, including fellow rising African stars Ester Rada and Berita, along with Eagle-Eye Cherry who appears on the single “Soldier”. A New Day takes his philosophy and talent a step forward towards international acclaim.
"Carlou D has the potential to become a major West African star...he has a powerful voice that can switch to an easy falsetto, and is an excellent guitarist and thoughtful songwriter."

An appealing ambiance with woody hints emanates from Rua da Emenda (available in January), the title of which brings to mind historic Lisbon. These derive from António Zambujo's velvety voice and the guitars and clarinet adorning his songs, which are like nostalgic illustrations shining with an intense inner light and secreting a mellow kind of sensuality. With Rua da Emenda, this Portuguese national leaves the well-beaten track of traditional fado behind him and turns it into his very own musical genre, a new, very elegant, vocal art which mixes saudade and ardent choruses.
