Harold López-Nussa
Harold López-Nussa was born into a family of musicians in Cuba: he is the nephew of the famous pianist Ernan Lopez Nussa and the son of the drummer Ruy Lopez Nussa. This 24-year-old pianist profits, like all the members of his family, from a double upbringing - Cuban and French. López-Nussa is now finishing his musical education at the Instituto Superior de Arte after building a solid classical music background obtained at the Amadeo Roldan Academy of music. He was the winner of many classical piano competitions in Cuba, and has appeared as a soloist in all the major venues on the island. Rapidly, López-Nussa opened up to traditional and popular music as well as jazz and started to play with the best musicians in Cuba. And now he focuses on jazz, his true passion. He is a 2005 laureate of the Montreux Jazz Piano competition and regularly performs in clubs in Havana and around the world.
